ERH

Instead of writing my paper which is due tomorrow, I have decided to tell you all about my best friend.

her name is Elza.
she's beautiful
she makes me laugh
and cry
she lives in Hawaii
i can't imagine college with out her so
YOU can imagine how difficult it is for me
cuz she lives in Hawaii.
That's across the ocean=
four months of not seeing my best friend...
Elza
is the nicest person I know
She is like a friend magnet
You can't know her and not want to be around her all the time
But she calls me her best friend so...
be jealous
cuz she has long blonde hair and
a smile that can light up any room
she listens to me
and talks to me
i can't count the memories we share
and the memories we aren't sharing now
so sometimes i'm sad
cuz she lives across the ocean
but she's literally the best friend i've ever had
and hopefully i'm hers
and that's all i need to know.

Love you Elzie

Seeing

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

When we've been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first begun.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

Honestly?

I was recently able to interview for the position of an EFY counselor. What an experience. I learned so many different things in that short hour of my life.

When we're interviewing we always try to put on our best self, to say the right answer. To come across as the best person for that job. To sell yourself. But are those answers you're giving really YOUR answers?
This was a group interview and as I watched people answer certain questions it was interesting because I could tell who each of those people were. Whether they were unsure of themselves, or too sure of themselves. Whether they were giving the "right" answer or their own answers. What was I giving? Thankfully my question was based solely on my testimony. Something that I know for myself. There isn't a right or wrong answer for what you know and what you believe. So get to know yourself. Then you can truly showcase yourself...honestly.

If you want to come across as someone who is kind, thoughtful and in other ways wonderful, don't pretend to be that way. Become that person.

"For what we love determines what we seek. What we seek determines what we think and do. What we think and do determines who we are and who we will become."

I like my life.

How to change your life...

"We can easily understand the importance of having a correct paradigm by using the analogy of a map. If you were trying to find your way around Los Angeles by using a map of Chicago, and if that map were your only source of information, you'd be hopelessly lost. If someone told you to 'try harder' you could double your speed by you would simply get lost twice as fast, because you'd still be following a false map. After a while you would probably get discouraged and just quit in frustration. Someone might see you looking dejected and say 'you've got an attitude problem. Be positive.' So you could try to think more positively and start again. As a result, you'd be more cheerful, but you'd still be lost. The point is that your ability to reach your destination has far less to do with your attitude or behavior than with the accuracy of your map. If you want to make small improvements in your life, change your behavior. Change your attitude. If you want to make quantum improvements, change your paradigm, your map. In other words, begin to look at life and the world from an entirely different level of thinking. Then and only then will behavior and attitude become important." Stephen R. Covey

On another note...I found a dead spider in the shower today. Weird.

Baseball

So...Here's a new post. Aren't you so excited?

It's the second day of the new semester and I'm already maybe a little stressed. The first week is always like that. I'm taking 17 credits, and t.a.ing (is that a word?) a dance class...So 17.5 credits. Awesome. So amidst all this stress I'm trying to still learn, even if the only thing I'm learning in my classes have to do with the course syllabus' (syllabi?) and grade break downs.

This is what I'm thinking...

The Lord is like the master pitcher in a baseball game and he LOVES throwing curve balls at us. Sometimes we hit them out of the park and sometimes we swing and miss. And most of the time, with these curve balls, I miss. BUT it's not three strikes and you're out! It's 82630571.93618 times and then you're still not out. I'd play that baseball game any day. So, we hit foul balls and sometimes we hit home runs. The point is, we get as many tries as we need. And every time we get better, because someone behind us,(our Savior) is whispering different ways to approach the ball, or hold the bat...different ways for us to improve. And I count myself very lucky to be on His team.

So play the game...and don't you dare give up.
