I learned a really cool trick in preschool. It's called breathing.
We sit there, after doing the "Wiggle, wiggle" dance and bring our hands up as we breath in, then down as we exhale. We do this three times. The fourth time, we do it silently. I can not tell you how much this calms me down.
Sometimes I get a little bit stressed. And even though being engaged is quite fantastic and I'm still kinda in la la land, planning a wedding is a tad bit stressful. Really, who decided that we had to mail invitations, pick colors or a "theme", feed everyone, and spend hundreds of dollars on a cake. LAME-O. After they sat down and commercialized love on Valentine's day, did they commercialize the wedding? Truth be told, I already have these silly things checked off my to-do list. And yes, it is going to be really pretty. And you can all come. It's in May. And yes, Brooke dear, I will give you the story and other fantastic tidbits soon.
BUT...It's still stressful. So I breathe.
It has been helping. Meditating helps too. But I'm really really happy. And Tanner is really really wonderful. But breathing makes things really really better.
This pleaseth me deeply :) Keep breathing girl and enjoy it all; only one time in your life you get to plan your wedding!!
ReplyDeleteKatrina - you don't have to have the kind of wedding everyone thinks you should have! As soon as I learned that, wedding planning became fun. I didn't have an official reception, I just had my closest family and friends and we had a garden party. I didn't have a cake, we didn't dance, and I didn't do a bouquet or garter toss. Instead we had a jazz band and people were taking off their shoes and playing on the grass. I promise, it can be fun if you let it be!
